Role Play Using Environmental Content (Listening, Speaking, and Critical Thinking)
Role plays can be used to promote personal responsibility among students. When teachers carefully craft role-play activities to highlight topics of relevance to students and their communities, role plays (a) give students opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge of environmental topics, (b) motivate students to discuss and express opinions on controversial issues, (c) encourage students to connect what they have learned about the environment to their daily lives, and (d) help students determine when it might be appropriate to take action and possibly persuade schoolmates, family members, and their communities to be more environmentally responsible.
